Toyota might already bring some pack of changes for their Scion FT-86. This automaker is already announcing their second badge of changes with the exterior of this car at the Geneva Motor Show. However, I don’t think that their upgrade on the front fascia will be the only surprise when the car actually reach the market.
There is a report from Auto Express which is saying that this Japanese automaker has a possibility to bring the hybrid version of FT-86 at some point in the future. Previously, this company’s engineer is already changing the car’s front fascia and windshield in order to make it more aerodynamic, which is a move that will be very helpful on the hybrid version of the car.
At this moment, the FT-86 vehicle is said to be coming with a powertrain from Subaru under the swooping hood of the car. Some other report also said that the production version of this car will be unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show late this year. In that moment, Subaru will also bring their new version of coupe at the same time. Hopefully we will get a more detail on its styling and drivetrain prior to the event.

RENNtech Tuning Mercedes GLK Pikes Peak Rally
Trucks and racing won’t fit each other in any kind of sentences. However, some exceptions is actually exist for NASCAR Craftsman series, Dakar Rally, and the Pikes Peak. The latest mentioned is a legendary hill climbing competition which has brought many awesome machine ever known. It is also caused the Mercedes-Benz tuner, RENNtech, creating the GLK350 hybrid Pikes Peak Project whhich was unveiled at SEMA in 2008.
Now, after three years, RENNtech finally revisiting their concept crossover with their second version of the creation with the most aggressive body kit from the Star Wars movie which is coated in a 3M’s carbon look vinyl wrap. Note that I mentioned ‘carbon look’ so it is not a real carbon fiber. This new concept bring an additional electric boost which is developed in house, beside the 3.5 liter V6 engine.
RENNtech also claims that the body kit of this car was entirely and engineered in house with their latest Computational Fluid Dynamics software and a rapid prototype capabilities. The show car will be going for a tour across the United States before it is finally retired at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Vehicle Museum in Irvine, California.

Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore To Celebrate 150th Years of Unification
The general move in auto manufacturing is to unveil the new cars right in the auto show, or even before it, not after. However, that is only a basic rule, and Lamborghini seems like they don’t want to follow that rule. While they were pretty full at the Geneva Motor Show last week with their brand new Aventador, the special edition of Gallardo is actually have been overlooked.
Last month, they are announcing the Bicolore edition, but now they come with the Tricolore which is for commemorating the 150th year of Italian unification. Instead of upgrading the previous version by adding the third color, they are introducing the Tricolore in white with the three colors of Italian flag for its offset stripe from the front facia to the top of the car and through the cabin. Hopefully it won’t have the name problem just like Ferrari with their F1 racer.
This limited edition car will be unveiled in Turin next week, as well as more details with it including how much unit will be made and its specific engine. The current Gallardo 5.2 liter V10 engine is currently bring 550-570 horsepower based on the tuning with either rear and all wheel drive.

Toyota Will Bring Lexus GS and FT-86 To New York Auto Show
This news is coming from a very reliable source inside Toyota, which was reporting that Toyota is planning to have a huge double debut at New York Auto Show, but neither uses the ToMoCo badge. The first car is the refreshed Lexus GS. We are still unsure whether the one that we will see in New York is still a concept or a production model. But it will surely bring an all new platform which is also used by the next generation of IS, which is coming next year.
The current available version of the Lexus GS has already present in the market since 2005. The car is actually has a consistent sales, but Toyota think that the car need a refreshment. So, you can expect another V6 and V8 engine which will be exist under the hood, but we don’t know about whether the F variant or the 450h hybrid that will coming.
The second planned debut for New York Auto Show is Scion which will bring their version of the FT-86 for the auto show. For this one, you may only expect for another concept which is similar to what was in Geneva, only with a new badges and some style tweaking.

Corvette Enjoying Good Sales After Some Freefall
Automotive News is reporting that the General Motors has experienced a slightly increase sales on their Corvette after months of declining numbers. This sports car is able to give 13 percent more sales in January and February compared to their last year’s sales. Chevrolet was saw their 955 Corvette models taken away from the dealers in the first two months of 2012.
However, Corvette sales haven’t breaking any records until now. But Automotive News said that this vehicle was experiencing a freefall since 2006, in some way of a steady state. Previously, Corvette’s models were sold at more than 3,000 units per month with a total of 36,518 car in a year, but last year, the number was only 12.624 units.
The question is why they had that freefall? The C6 Corvette was considered as the baddest Bow Tie which was introduced in 2006, while some other muscle cars like Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, and the Chevrolet Camaro were bringing a similar power to the C6, but with much less price. Actually the Corvette is still has more point on its handling, but it is maybe the last thing that people consider when they want to buy a car.
